Without a doubt, Scrambles has been the most fun album released thus far in 2009. Everything about the album makes me want to jump out of my skin and dance with my own bones (I spend a lot of time by myself). Movement in inevitable with these songs that mix punk and ska with something that could only be considered miscellaneous, complete with keyboards and chimes and other surprises.
What makes everything so fun is the speed of every song. They play uptempo and Jeff Rosenstock is able to sing pretty damn fast when needed (as is the crew that added the slew of gang vocals), and has a great vocal range (sing to scream). The piano/keyboards add something different to what one would think a normal punk ska-ish band would sound like, giving them some video game sounding parts and some extra emotional sounding parts.
I wish I wasn't so late on discovering this band, as they are truly doing something unique and I enjoy their approach to song writing. I know that every time I listen to Scrambles my insides will be smiling. They're just a fun loving band.
