Its the dry New Zealand wit of main characters Brett M and Germaine that make this 14 episode season so hysterical. From a musician standpoint, it shows the many struggles that a band trying to make the big time go through on a regular basis. These guys, who somehow have no jobs and only one fan (plus a manager, want to make it, though probably not as much as their manager, Murray.
The main plotlines revolve around their quest for musical importance (or acceptance) while living (somewhat)normal lives in New York City. They are poor and people don't always understand their New Zealand ways (most people think they're Australian), but they have a good time with each other and seem to remain positive no matter what hurdles are thrown at them.
At fitting moments during the episodes, they break out into song, ala musical style. The songs are laugh a minute, made even funnier by the cinematography. The reveals of the members are great, making this an all around top notch first season to hopefully a long running series.
